Extras Paid Locally - Madeira - see Faro & Lisbon

Additional Fees & Deposits

Out of Hours

The car hire representative is available at the airport from 7.00am to midnight at Madeira.  If you collect or return your car out of hours, you will be charged an additional fee of 43.50 Euro per car.  If your plane is delayed the car hire desk will be kept open.  Out of hours return of cars must be pre-arranged.

Child Seats

Child seats are paid for locally but must be pre-booked. There are 3 types:-
  • Baby Seat - up to 12 months
  • Child Seat - 1 to 3 years
  • Booster Seat - over 3 years
By law, children under three years must travel in baby or child seats.  Depending on their size, children up to the age of five may be required to use booster seats.  The cost of all seats is 7.50 Euro per day.  We recommend you to bring your own seats. Most airlines do not charge excess baggage on them.

Deposits

A local deposit for petrol and insurance excess (see below) is required.  It is returned when you return the car undamaged and with the same amount of petrol.  Most clients complete a credit card voucher, which is returned to you to destroy and not processed under normal circumstances.

Accommodation Delivery

Cars delivered and collected at Madeira accommodation is free in Funchal and in other areas of Madeira, up to 15 Km there is a charge of 24.60 Euro/ 16 to 30Km 43,05 Euro/ Over 30Km is 61.50 Euro.

Additional Insurance

If you opt for additional insurance to limit the risk of paying the excess, this is arranged and paid for when you collect the car.

Your Maximum Liability

Excess is dependent on the car; please see the table below. Excess is paid if:-
  • the car (tyres, windows, keys etc.) is damaged or lost, except if as of a result of an accident caused solely by another driver
  • the driver causes damage to other cars resulting in a claim.
If the terms and conditions of the car hire contract are violated, the insurance cover is invalidated. It is a term of the contract to report accidents to the police.

The car hire company charge clients an Accident Administration Fee of 36 Euro per occurrence, whenever an accident situation occurs in which the client is held responsible. This fee applies independent of the value of the damage caused to the vehicle. You may avoid paying this fee by opting to have the additional insurance (Super CDW) to limit excess.
They also charge a No-Show Fee of 30 Euro per vehicle, if
special vehicles are not picked up on the date of the booking.

Reduce Your Liability

It is possible to take out an additional insurance to reduce the possibility of paying the excess; please see the table below.  The additional insurance excludes:-
  • damage to cars while under the influence of drugs or alcohol
  • damage to tyres, wheels, roofs, windows, car interior, undercarriage
  • wilful damages
  • lost keys.
